Immense power and relentless torque provide an aggressive, thrilling ride on the 2025 Harley-Davidson Breakout and Fat Boy. Unleash 104 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom engine with either bike — this shared engine is newly revised for the 2025 model year. The engine on both bikes breathes in through a touring-style 4.0L air intake, drawing in around 50 percent more volume than the air intake systems on the 2024 versions of either bike. For the deep rumble you’re looking for on your new Harley, both motorcycles feature a two-into-two exhaust.
One difference is their fuel economy — the Breakout gets up to 49 combined MPG, while the Fat Boy gets up to 47 MPG, but both bikes have a 5-gallon fuel tank.

Riding the 2025 Harley-Davidson Breakout and Fat Boy is all about you, the bike, and the freedom of the open road — with just enough tech and rider safety to keep you supported and confident. When it comes to instrumentation, the Breakout features a 4-inch analog speedometer with lower digital readouts situated directly above the front forks, while the Fat Boy features a 5-inch analog speedometer with a lower digital readout screen on the top of the fuel tank.
Like all other bikes in the 2025 Harley-Davidson cruiser family, the Breakout and Fat Boy feature a full collection of LED lighting, including the headlamp, signature position lamp, taillamp, and blinkers. The Fat Boy features a unique headlamp nacelle, while the Breakout headlamp stands out between the front fork. For excellent stopping power, both bikes have a 300-millimeter front disc brake. Anti-lock brakes, traction control, and several cornering-enhanced rider safety features are standard on both motorcycles. Selectable ride modes optimize performance for general road riding, more controlled rain riding, and high-energy sport riding and modify the cornering characteristics of the antilock braking and traction control systems.

The Breakout has a more raked-out front profile, with a 34-degree rake angle versus 30 degrees for the Fat Boy. Along with this, the Breakout is 13 pounds lighter than the Fat Boy. Both models have a comparable laden seat height, and can seat two with a pillion seat and buddy pegs. The Fat Boy gets floorboards for your forward foot controls, while the Breakout gets standard foot pegs.
