2023 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic vs. Low Rider ST Engine Specs & Powertrain

Roll out with the soul-stirring sound and uncompromising power a Milwaukee-Eight® V-Twin engine with either the 2023 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic or Low Rider ST. Of the two bikes, you get a bigger Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine with more horsepower and torque on the Low Rider ST. The Milwaukee-Eight 114 power plant on the Heritage Classic has all the muscle you need for long rides as well. Both motorcycles get up to 47 MPG combined between city and highway riding.

At the front end of the air intake system for the Heritage Classic, you get a ventilator air cleaner, and on the back end, you get 2-into-2 shorty dual exhaust pipes. For the Low Rider ST, performance for that Milwaukee-Eight 117 is fed in by a heavy breather air intake system and out through a 2-in-2 offset shotgun exhaust. Tires are another difference — find Dunlop Harley-Davidson Series tires on the Heritage Classic and Michelin Scorcher tires on the Low Rider ST.

2023 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic vs. Low Rider ST Safety & Technology

An LED headlamp — including the iconic Daymaker® on the Heritage Classic — is standard on both bikes, and the Heritage Classic also includes auxiliary LED fog lamps. Be seen with a Zeppelin tail lamp on both bikes — with LED bulbs for the Low Rider ST and incandescent bulbs for the Heritage Classic. Dual front brakes are exclusive to the Low Rider ST. An anti-lock braking system is included with both motorcycles to help prevent you from high- or low-siding it.

In terms of instrumentation, the Heritage Classic comes with a 5-inch analog speedometer with digital readouts for the odometer fuel level, range, tachometer, and more. The Low Rider ST takes a more understated approach with a 2.14-inch digital display that shows all your key performance specs.

While the 2023 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic and Low Rider ST both find their place in the Cruiser category, each one has some unique attributes and different dimensions. Overall, the two bikes weigh roughly the same, but Heritage Classic runs just a bit lower to the ground and is two inches longer than the Low Rider ST. Both put you in a comfortable, upright riding position and the Heritage Classic provides you with floorboards while the Low Rider ST gives you mid-mount pegs for your feet. Only the Heritage Classic includes a pillion pad for your back warmer.

Among other unique design features, the Heritage Classic comes with a detachable windshield, making it ideal for highway riding should you choose to answer the call of the open road. By comparison, the Low Rider ST is built with a wide FXRT-inspired, frame-mounted fairing. Both bikes include lockable saddlebags, with the removable saddlebags on the Low Rider ST coming in slightly ahead for overall cargo room.
